Huna Prayer Healing PDF Print E-mail

I continue to work on finishing up my series of book on healing using Huna Prayers. The last book in this series, which I am currently finishing up, is Huna Prayer: Healing Yourself and Others Using Huna Prayer. For those who are unfamiliar with Huna, it is Hawaiian medicine. I started studying Huna many years ago when I recognized that Western medicine was not about healing people but rather about treating medical conditions, that is, treating the symptoms created by medical conditions without treating the cause of these same medical problems.

I recognized somewhere along the way that Western medicine was not about healing, it was only about treating, so I started on a 20-year journey, looking at many other then Western medical healing systems. I read hundreds of books and articles and talked with dozens of healers from virtually every type of healing system I could identify. This included Asian, African and Latino shaman - curanderos, native American healers, faith healers, religious healers, in fact anyone and everyone who knew anything about healing.

SRDs-Healing PDF Print E-mail

I apologize to readers for not preparing an article for you for last week. I do have a reason. Whether or not it is a good reason, I will leave up to each reader. My reason is simple. I have been working on the final edit of my book, When Your Body Talks, Listen! Lisa and I have been working on this book for several years. Now it is just about finished.

When Your Body Talks, Listen! It is about Stress-Related Disorders (SRDs), that is, illnesses caused by or made worse by stress. Many years ago we realized that stress was not just an annoying problem, rather it was the source of most medical problems. In fact, a number of research studies performed in the past 20 years suggest that stress is the cause of anywhere from 70 to 90% of all medical problems seen in medical offices. We have for our purposes adopted the static 70 to 80% for we chose after looking at the majority of these studies, to remain conservative in our estimates, However, whether 70%, 80% or 90%, this is still a major source of pain and suffering.

Healing: Illness and Problem Solving PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allen Lawrence, M.D.

It is not often clear that healing is simply a form of problem solving. Western medicine generally considers the reasons for illness to be “external events” that is, it is caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, inadequate nutrition (the foods we eat are inadequate or tainted), injuries and so on. The closest Western medicine gets to “internal events” is in suggesting that many illnesses are caused by genetic mutations, yet, often they may quickly add that these mutations are caused by radiation, toxins or a host of what in the end are simply more “external events.”

The truth is it is really much simpler and but less politically correct is that most illnesses are ultimately caused because of failure of our own immune and defensive systems. Illness occurs when our own immune system breaks down because we are in conflict over one or another unresolved problem, which I, for dramatic purposes like to call, “unresolved conflicts.”

Stress and Illness PDF Print E-mail

It might come as no shock to any of my readers who know me that I strongly believe that stress is the number one enemy we have in life. It is true that during the cold war we made the Russians the number one enemy, during World War I the Germans were our greatest enemy. During World War II the Nazi’s assumed the mantle of our greatest enemy and today, while some might argue that our bad economy is our worst enemy, others may well suggest that our current Washington politicians are our worst enemy. In all cases, no matter how far back we go in time, our number one enemy has and always was stress.

Do You Believe in Coincidence? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Allen Lawrence, M.D.

It may seem as if there are coincidences, that things just happen, that what is happening is entirely random, but is it?

Recently a client asked me if I believed in coincidences something had happened to her that she thought was quite unusual. She described two events that outwardly appeared had to be coincidental as they were unrelated (accept that they happened to her) and yet, she inwardly knew that they were related but could not understand or recognize how they were related.

We have all had this type of experience. We hear someone’s name at a party and a few days later we bump into them. “Could not be related!” We think to ourselves, it was just a coincidence, we tell ourselves, yet, still we wonder, “Was it meaningful or was it just a coincidence?”
